Post subject:  New Method of Searching for Contacts

iForgeAhead allows you to quickly locate records by filtering (or shrinking) the list based on what you are looking for.

The filter controls for the Contacts list have been moved from the Action Panel into a filter row within the list itself.

As shown in the screenshots below, the filter row has a blue background and is located just below the column headings, and just above the first contact record.

To filter the list, simply click in the filter field for the column you want to search. Then type one or more characters that you are trying to match. The system will automatically filter the list to show the records that meet your criteria:

Most filter fields will match records by comparing the start of the values to what you type. In the example above, the list returns only records where the first name starts with "ja". It will not return records where "ja" appears after the first letter(s), such as "Mary Jane."

One exception is the filter for the "Roles" column. This filter will return records that match any part of the value. In the example below, typing "st" in the Roles filter displays all records marked as a Stable, even if they have other roles as well.

Additional Tips:
  • You can use more than one filter field, for example to find contacts with names starting with "t" in a certain state.
  • You can sort any list by clicking on the column heading for the field you want to sort by. Clicking the "First Name" column heading will sort the records by first name, from A-Z. A second click on the same column heading will sort it in reverse, from Z-A.
  • These filter and sort techniques are available in the mobile side as well.
